Coverage of Ruth Rendell Short Story prize on ThisIsSomerset

Somerset author Christian Cook wins prestigious Ruth Rendell Short Story prize


A former pupil from St Dunstan’s School, Glastonbury has won the prestigious Ruth Rendell Short Story Competition.

Christian Cook, 37, who lives in Street, was presented with his award by Baroness Rendell at a ceremony in London.

Christian’s story, Facing East, will be included in a new collection of short stories, called Interactions, published next month.

The book, which is being sold in aid of InterAct, also includes contributions from Ruth Rendell, Toby Young, Nell Dunn, and Nobel prize-winning poet, Seamus Heaney.
